- Some serious injury news with Hardcore Holly broke this week. Its been known for some time that Hardcore Holly was off TV for surgery on his elbow, but little information has been given on his condition.
Its believed that the injury had been causing Holly problems since August 2005, but the pain became unbearable in November when he was sent on the Survivor Series Tour of Europe.
It turned out to be a very serious staph infection in his elbow, that has left Holly lucky to still have his arm, and lucky to even be alive. The infection is reported to have developed into MRSA. I don't know much about MRSA, apart from the fact it is very bad.
Fortunately, Holly still remains very positive about his return to the ring sometime in the future. For more information on Holly, check out his website at www.bobhollyacademy.com, or check out his interview on WWE.com.
- It has been reported that some moronic fan jumped the rail at RAW's live event in Cardiff, Wales. The man attempted to get into the ring during the main-event that featured Edge & Triple H vs HBK & John Cena. This is not entirely surprising, as Cardiff City Football Club has the worst reputation for fan violence and hooliganism in the UK. Anyhow, the man was tackled by the security and restrained (and hopefully got to the back and had the Masterlock slapped on!).
- Gunner Scott defeated Gregory Helms in a Live Event in Germany on Monday night, leading some people to the conclusion that he had become the New WWE Cruiserweight Champion. That match was later confirmed as being a non-title match. Come on really, were WWE going a have a title change hands off TV after building Helms up so well? And besides Gunner Scott is about 20-pounds to heavy to be a Cruiserweight!
- Psycho serial killer Kane looked like he's ripped his former partner and Backlash opponent's eye out on RAW, after Show taunted him about .... [whispers] May 19th. I hope Show comes to the ring with an eye-patch on Sunday, that should be pretty funny! Maybe Kane could speak to Mideon about borrowing his eye jar to bring to the ring with him too!
This week's RAW announced one more match to complte the Backlash card for this Sunday. It will be Ric Flair taking on Umaga, who is making his debut PPV appearance. The impressive official card now looks like this:
Umaga vs Ric Flair
Chris Masters vs Carlito
Shelton Benjamin vs Rob Van Dam
Mickie James vs Trish Stratus
Kane vs Big Show
Vince & Shane McMahon vs HBK & God
John Cena vs Triple H vs Edge
- Christy Hemme debuted on TNA Lockdown this week, so expect to see her being hit with a guitar, and locked in the Steiner-Recliner some time soon! She got a lot of potential, and brings a lot of enthusiasm to the ring. I don't understand why the WWE released her, but their loss is TNA's gain, and hopefully she can be utilized properly there.
- Buff Bagwell, Lex Luger, and Rick Steiner were all supposed to have been backstage at this week's TNA Impact taping. No offence to these guys personally, but, WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY signing them would be! Wrestling fans don't wanna see old has been's like these, they will just get in the way of progress of Daniels, Styles, and Joe - the real stars. That was the exact problem WCW suffered from to send them crashing down.
Thats all this week, thanks for reading, and WRESTLEMAN's Weekly News Letter will be back next Tuesday. Be sure to check out the latest column that will be online tommorrow featuring my Backlash predcitions and the Results of the Season End Awards!
